Poem for her 914

 Grilled Cheese

The picnic table had the spread

Iced mint tea in mugs

Slightly sweating in the day's heat

The grill off to the side still hot

We had brought our skillet

Then I grilled the buttered bread

As she had laid the cheese slices on top

The best thing was

She was laughing

Happy Birthday Babe,

Charles.

Poem for her 913

 Blue Book

The shelves in the art studio held them

Books in blue covers

Sheets of paper stacked from ages past

Themes of all sorts

Art drawn with ink pens

Some dated some not

Pages and pages of them

We still wrote them into the collection

Little snap shots of thoughts and stuff

The first one collected still has blank pages to fill

Loves notes to ourselves

Happy Birthday Babe,

Charles.

Poem for her 912

 Togs

Okay we had to agree on new togs

New togas someone we knew said

No togs

Okay I do in my old age wear more often foot wear

It's our out of the way place

The smile I see on her face is such

That you shouldn't assume

I do things at the cabin a bit different

I do

I say

She laughs

You hear a deep laugh

..and then we don't say anything

Happy Birthday Babe,

Charles.
