Poem for her 199

Dear Readers,

And days shifted

When we were in the cabin together
When we were first on the phone
Days shifted and time slipped by unheeded
We fell into a heartbeat not our own
Slowness and calm and so peaceful
When the sound of a clock striking the hour
Just now finished wasn't it just now the last
We lost track of time unneeded and gone
We can't tell you how long it's been
Since we kissed but it seems like forever
But we talked just seconds ago
Time is not needed when she is in the room
It slips by sunbeam by sunbeam and goes to sleep
I can't tell you the time it is now
But I know she is here holding my hand

Happy Birthday Babe,

Charles.
