Poem for her 614

Dear Readers,

The Nail appointment

The nails were bare no polish on them
The hands were in gloves and sifting dirt
Or rather we call it soil as the potted plant saw it
We were bringing in bulbs to bloom inside
There on the sunny porch side window
The nail appointment several days off
A nice place in town she liked
But she wanted her nails painted now
The lady on the phone said sure come right in
The ride to town was faster than normal
It was a slow day and little traffic
There were no cars in the lot
Bold she thought as the color went on
Then she laughed and mentioned a video
Long ago when she showed me her nails
Bold for me she'd said
Pictures were taken and I had her say
Much the same things as before
But today I said

Happy Birthday Babe,

Charles.
