Poem for her 608
Dear Readers,
Cherry Tree
There we sat on the picnic table
The trees not far away
Canada in late summer
The trip had been a bit long
Train ride to the west coast
Then north and over the border
The coffee from the thermos was hot
The crackers were crisp
The pate from the shop in town
The caviar too
There we were older than last year
But having just as much fun
The sky was full of puffy clouds
The T-shirt you had on one we made
The designs leaves from our yard
The hand prints yours
The tug of the wind in your hair
The day was perfect with you there
Fresh cherries from the tree too
With a kiss to you
I say
Happy Birthday Babe,
Charles.
