Poem for her 604

Dear Readers,

Those rain clouds,

The forest was dripping the trees sagging
You looked out and went Ugh, wanting it to stop
The soaked ground was forming puddles
The branches of the elderberries hung down
The blue black fruit saying softly yay juice
The hazelnuts were going to be full too
But the puddles were going to take a while to dry
The days dark no stars at night
Forlorn the skies with scudding clouds
Yucky you said looking out the windows
I got a few dry twigs to start a small fire going
To dry out the papers for an art project
The picnics on hold out back
We had one in front of the fire
We had that wine you liked
We ate some crackers we made
And then the weather reports said
Sun in a day or two soon
We waited semi patiently wanting the sun
Not the hot just a bright bit
For a picnic down by the south puddles
Or were they the south ponds now
Soon a bit outside
In the sunshine

Happy Birthday Babe,

Charles.
