Poem for her 612

Dear Readers,

Front Porch

The screened in section of the cabin was cool
The morning filled sinuses were draining
Soon we'd both be able to sniff better
There was the smell of fresh coffee still
That big pot in the kitchen poured in the cup
This morning it was a grilled egg and cheese
But a bit later when we could smell better
The birds were flocking toward the sunflowers
We might have a few to plant next year
The tomatoes were still blooming and setting
The day was slower this early not yet 9
Your tummy made that rumble sound
And I smiled, got up and said shall we
We slowly made it to the kitchen
Getting the bread and butter and plate
Warming the coffee and then the meal
Our ears still not as clear as we'd like
But tummy was hungry and time to eat
The sounds of fall sliding in the windows
Smell of coffee and eggs and cheese
That meal we've had a dozen years
But fresh each time you and I taste it

Happy Birthday Babe,

Charles.
