Poem for her 498

Dear Readers,

Snowy roads

The snow covered the spring flowers
The white made your skirt look snowy
Folds of the clothe had clouds in them
The chill at your ankles made you smile
But you really wanted to get in by the fire
So hurry we did from the van to the porch
In the door and in the inner door
The fireplace was still glowing
The fresh logs took seconds to flare
The flames made you warmer there in the skirt
The winter weather hanging on just a bit
I wanted to take a photo but didn't
I just held you close and kissed you slow
Slow to let go but went to get the tea
Hot when the whistle blew seeped in mint
And that extra dash of something chocolate
There by your side I sit letting the firelight
Slip the chill off the air as we rest
A long drive done and now Home again

Happy Birthday Babe,

Charles.
