Poem for her 625

Dear Readers,

Something Sweet

The bread recipe needed work
The cherries and the mango puree
There needed to be other things too
The croutons out of the last batch okay
There was something missing still
I knew what it was
Her hands in mine
Those simple giggles
The ones her smiles made
They had that touch of sweet delight
The light on in the kitchen off
The back yard cool
Evening shade the four o clocks full
Those tiny watermelon fruit crisp summer
Then the butter on the graham crackers
The bread would wait
The night was young, we headed to bed
There we slept my fingers on her back
Either way we sleep
I touched her back and then sleep

Happy Birthday Babe,

Charles.
