Poem for her 697

Dear Readers,

Snow fort

We didn't build one this year yet
The snow has been light and fluffy
The years past the snow forts were huge
There were mazes and trees in them
They weren't really forts
They were just paths in the snow
The snow piled on the side
The onions in the ground
The garlic too
Jerusalem Artichokes in the patches
Gotten to by snow fort lanes
There to be dug for a soup
Or a salad in the cold days
The ground a great storehouse
If we miss some they will grow next season
The fort might be used to snowball fight
The mail man, the neighbors in spring
It goes unused most of the year
I like throwing snowballs at trees
Never was big on pelting people
So the fort is a cool castle place
Snows it they get the right moisture
Then some walls and a spire or two
Maybe a flag for the high gate side
Pictures of my fair lady there with snowball in hand

Happy Birthday Babe,

Charles.
