Poem for her 689

Dear Readers,

The fall sniffles

The fall sniffles attacked us
We had been doing well
The fire had been lit
The wood gathered in
The rains started and didn't let up
The woods got swampy
The days damp
The sinuses filled
We thought we had been swimming
The sounds of popping ears
Ugh we both said
The poems slowed to a snuffed nose
I spoke a few to you
They didn't make it to paper
Sniffles the days went by
Coffee heated then mint tea with whisky
Ugh the cough the roof fixed
The leaks stopped the fires hot
The woods damp the logs dry and more in house
The days will be damp
Inside warm and sniffles will fade
Your feet are warm
The socks dry
The hot toddy tasty
Your lips too

Happy Birthday Babe,

Charles.
