Poem for her 470

Dear Readers,

Garden Salad

The spring bunny in us gets the leaves
As you see I posted this thought after all
The belt loops I helped you pull up and
Then sent you on the garden way
The grass was fine and light with dew
The herbs growing small and the leaves
That we picked for the salad small
Tucked into the bowl with the bits
Of this and that and some of the cheese
The dressing a bit out of your bottle
And a bit out of mine over on my side
The big bowl sorta kinda halved
But the croutons on your side
The blue salad napkins handy to both
The joy of a shared bowl or plate
Our long habit of how the meals are
Some things just feel better shared
That long talk about syntax and dust
That day we ate the eggs and toast
Long ago pictured and posed again
There as I hand you the purple Prose
The fingers and toes slide in dance
The garden salad a neat snack
Now to see which seeds to plant next

Happy Birthday Babe,

Charles.
