Poem for her 709

Dear Readers,

The bookstore

The last book I picked up
The clerk looked at me oddly
Then a conversation
Then an odd smile
Then totals and tip
Then the exchange of gossip
Then I left the store
There you were
Over by the yellow van
Bags in hand door open
We exchanged conversation
For news and a plan
The night was over
The week after the shopping trip
The night of our day long week
We speak a lot, but say nothing
The exchange of coffee for tea
The cards stacked at table
The photo shoot
The events many
The kisses slow and silky
The touch of taste buds on dinner
The back of skin to fingers
The naps when days are busy
The naps when days aren't busy
The long plans done easy
The books did surprise you
One a day for a fortnight

Happy Birthday Babe,

Charles.
